The World of Gaming – Who are the people in it? – Part 3
The Veterans
This is the final stage of gaming and the ultimate upgrade (using the lingo so prevalent in this field) possible for any person even remotely interested in gaming. These people have, ideally, grown up playing games in one form or the other, possibly varying in genres but mostly never in the intensity. I have tried to capture a few of their characteristics in this post of mine.
Addicted
Harsh though it may sound, mostly you’ll find these veterans to be addicted to the whole concept of sitting in front of the idiot-box doing nothing but playing on it. Come to think of it, isn’t it obvious? They grew up playing games, and if they are still playing even though they have families, jobs and responsibilities, they will probably keep on playing the rest of their lives. What I don’t know is how many of them will actually buy original DVDs/CDs of games, but what I do know for sure is that there can be several uses of this information other than direct sales.
Forums
As we all know, there are several game specific/genre specific forums present on the web to facilitate interaction between likeminded souls across the world. Now what the killer thing is, that these veterans are mostly the ones who are respected the most in these kinds of forums. This respect is mostly due to their experience on the forum/game but sometimes it also exists due to their skill in the game.
Schedule
More often than not, these veterans have a fixed schedule in which they play. It could be as frequently as daily or rarely like once a week/month. This is again a logical conclusion as the rest of their day is more or less fixed as far as activities are concerned. Also, if the games played by that veteran are multi player in nature, the friends/clan mates of the veteran would also be fitting into his schedule (as it is necessary for all the members of the clan to be available at the same time to play simultaneously).
Cash Cash!!!
Believe it or not, these are probably the only set of people the gaming companies will ever find, other than professional players, who are always loaded with cash. This is again a very obvious thing to state, but none the less important for anyone planning to target this segment. All the other segments are mostly living off their parents who might or might not be giving them enough cash to buy the games of their choice. These independent gamers, aka veterans, are perfect targets as they can buy any game which manages to catch their fancy.

The World of Gaming – Who are the people in it? – Part 2
Youth – College goers or whatever!!
This is a slightly older segment when compared to the previous one we talked about. Right from fresh out of their senior secondary schools to fresh out of their bachelor degrees (or dropping studies altogether), this segment covers the entire range of these people. Rather than exploring what drives these people towards games, let us have a look at a few of their characteristics. Their lifestyle in general, mode of playing, venue of playing, choices of computer games and the pleasure they obtain in playing are few of the things which we should have a look at. I promise, it’s going to be something we all know but never stopped to think about.
Lifestyle
Now this is not meant to scare people off gaming or anything, but these people literally breathe games day in and day out! I am not talking about the people who are off and on gamers but the ones who are properly hooked on to the online games (and that is the vast majority in my experience). A typical day in the life of those people is waking up, attending as many classes as they wish to (0-50%; never more than that), indulging in small time pass activities, and ending the day with 2-3 sessions of the game of their choice. It could be Age of Empires, Warcraft: Defence of the Ancients, Counter Strike, Need For Speed, Quake, Unreal Tournament, FIFA or any such addictive game.
Mode of playing
What do I mean by Mode of Playing in the first place? It is the state which people generally enter when they start playing computer games. It has to be seen or experienced to know what a state it is. People are oblivious to everything around them and they only have eyes for the game they are playing. I know a few of my friends who could even successfully ignore a full bomb blast happening 300 meters beside them, as long as it does not affect the game. This is useful information in the sense, that these consumers of various products become zonked out toward anything outside the computer game for a period to 6-10 hours every day (Do we see an opportunity here?).
Venue of Playing
As can be guessed, this kind of maniacal gaming is only to be observed in the hostels of all the colleges (primarily guys’ one at that). However, in certain cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Indore etc. it has been observed that there are other students of this age looking at Cyber Cafes to satisfy the gaming need of theirs.
Style of playing
It has been observed that a group of 4-5 people (at least) are always seen playing together. These people call themselves a “clan” and participate in all the competitions happening as a team. This is true for most of the team games and obviously not for the many single playing games we see. This follows the observations from the previous head wherein we saw the concentration of these people in hostels or cyber cafes, both the places an ideal ground for the “getting together of a clan”.
Why do they play?
The reasons could be many, the primary one being they are bored with everything else about them. Undergrad studies do not interest them and there aren’t enough activities happening around them to keep them occupied otherwise.
This sounds to be a lame reason but is true for most of the cases. For a select few people, they were already hooked on to games and just continued in their UG. Most of these people continue playing their entire lives, while a most of the others just stop after their college life.

The World of Gaming – Who are the people in it? – Part 1
The world of computer gaming is a weird one; to the people inside it, it’s just a way of their life (or is it? We have to explore that), and to the people outside, they are either uninterested or envious (again a supposition which we have to establish in the future) of this entire world. There are various effects which being a member of this highly exclusive club has on people, and not all of them positive! Some of the things which we should ask ourselves is, who are the members of this community in the first place? Let me remind you that the following analysis is being done purely based on personal experience and has no data to support it whatsoever.
The 14 Year old GeniusesWell, the title which I have given this segment is totally misleading. What it leads you to believe is that all the youngsters who play any kind of computer games are actually good at it, and I don’t want to give you that impression. These can be newbies, average or expert just like the rest of us. What would really knock your socks off would be some of the reasons which these youngsters sit in front of the idiot box and not spend time playing like the previous generation
Lack of time
Try as we might to ignore it, the children of today (10-16 year olds) have much lesser free time than what the previous generations had. They go to school from morning to late afternoon or evenings, and then proceed to the tuitions (which promise to deliver a lot more than they do) and return home only at the time of dinner. This leaves them very little time to go outside and actually play the games which they are supposed to. Instead, they get computer games (of some genre or the other) and start playing them. As soon as they become decent at it, they leave the weekend outdoor sports and instead go sit in a cyber café/gaming parlor and spend their time.
Lack of Friends
Well, we all know that there are basically two kinds of people, those who have friends and those who don’t. So the ones who don’t, generally find themselves in front of the computer at some point or the other in their childhood. Now this does not mean that the children who have friends do not play on the computer, but then it is highly likely that a lot of the kids who do not socialize in their real life are very active in their virtual life.
Becoming one of the Group
Imagine the life of a young kid in which all his friends are talking incessantly about this new game which they have started playing. Obviously, in such a situation, that kid would at least be tempted to have a look at the game if nothing else. Sometimes, even this is an adequate reason for a kid to start playing games.
A genuine interest in this field
Well, pretty self explanatory. This would be the group of kids who would be inherently interested in computer gaming and would be playing no matter what the constraints or available options are open to them. These are the trend setters who influence the other gamers around them. Even if they had the time on their hands, the skill to be doing something else, these are the kids who would still be playing computer games. As far as I can see, these should be the target segment of any game manufacturing company, should they ever decide to focus on any one particular segment in the future.

Blue
But being some kind of an "out-of-the-box" thinker, I have to come up with alternative meanings for the same. So lets see what all can I come up with.
Blue is the colour of the skin after a serious beating by someone. No... Seriously.. It can happen. Now imagine a cute chick walking past you. All you do is maybe wink at her, or lets say that you get a bit ahead of yourself and start ogling her (perfectly natural and understandable). And all of a sudden her big boyfriend/bhai/father comes by... and you get the beating of a lifetime (sounds familiar???).. Well, it is an established fact that blue is mostly the color most likely to be flashing before your eyes before they close for an eternity.
What else? Sunday was good. I/you/everyone boozed a lot and got zonked out to the max. We dragged our sorry asses on to our beds, somehow, and dozed off at like 6 in da morning. Come 9:15, we have a lecture to attend. Well, again research has proved the fact that the feeling we kinda have at that point of time is Monday "blues"..
See the kinda crap people come up with when they try to think a bit :P
Moving further into this nonsensical theme, we find that blue is generally the colour of the walls in hospitals. how many of us have actually stopped to think about it? Is it naturally pleasing to the eye? No, that would be green, whose luminous intensity assures us that it is probably the most visible colour in existence. So why are they always blue? If we ponder a bit more on the same we can say that it is mostly the cheapest colour to make. Heh, imagine, blue is cheaper than White. Hahaha. That has to be funny! but then, it kinda gives us an insight into what kind of cheapos all those people are who use this color to paint their homes n everything :D
I can go on and on. But I would like to draw your attention towards the usage of "blue" as a pronoun. Now when we say "I am feeling so blue", What do we actually mean?
Is it, "I am so tense"? "I am sore from that awesome a** whooping"? or something else entirely? Contemplating a bit more on the same, we can ask abt the varying degrees of feeling blue... hehe "bluer and bluest"???
Now if my class mate, neel aka bluey aka internet explorer, reads this, he might think this whole topic is about him. Which leads me to the thought, if a person's name is any indication abt the kind of person he is, doesn't "neel" suggest that he can be the source of a full industry?
Robin "blue" would be out of business in a jiffy. All he has to do is maybe drink a lot and let his body do the work for him. :)
baah.. I have farted enough on this theme. Just wanted to jot something down or the blogspot could have closed this site down for good.

Strategy in Marketing
Well, I never thought that I was any good at it, not that I think that now, nor did I ever think that I would have any affinity about this subject.
After coming to this place, I thought what the hell, lets explore this field as well. And then I saw Kotler!!!
A massive book with almost no concession for human beings. It talks about humans in a way which will put even the insomniacs to sleep and talks about interesting stuff in such a dull, dreary and monotonous manner that most of the junta will shy away from the subject altogether.
So the question which now arises is... Lets say your teacher of the subject isn't all that great (I am not saying mine isn't.... he is kinda awesome) then what the hell do you do so as to acquaint yourself with the subtle nuances of the subject so as to excel in the coming future???
I found an answer today... Well, in our college we had a F#%$^&g 12 hour session in operating a software called "markstrat".
I had been dreading this event for so many days now. Imagine, spending the weekend studying in the most rigorous way possible, and that too with loads of assignments piling up on your head!!!
When I went to the place,I found that the software ACTUALLY simulated a market of Monopolistic competition quite well. You are given a few products to start with... and they are already positioned in a way. You represent a marketing division of a firm which allots you some budget to spend in spreading the Brand awareness etc (u know the jargon rite???).
What you do is actually change the production levels, order reports form the market, make suppositions about the companies in the industry in which you are also there (application of game theory if you want :) ), and do loads of stuff you didn't think you would be able to do until the time you came to a high position in the hierarchial ladder in a hot shot organisation.
And it was SO GOOD.. You could also see the results of the decisions made in an hour from when u did make them. Each of the sessions, generally an hour each, was an year in the "MarkStrat world". Also the currency in which we were trading was MarkStrat Dollars!! :)
All in all, in case you are from a Bskool and this is the first time you are hearing of this particular tool... All I will request you to do is go out and ask your marketing prof to indulge u guys in such kind of an activity at least once and year..
It was so AWESOME today... WOW :)

A story in ma college!!

Then, he went about seeing the place... and to his shock, he realised that there were many more people like him in this land of dreams!
He was pleasantly surprised!!! He started calling them "YSC people" of the YSC Club.. :)
As days passed, he found out that this land of dreams wasn't really a land of dreams... more like a sexy resort kinda place where a huge amount of butt f&%$^&g goes on...

Anyways, the charm of the surroundings started wearing off on the dude. He became a lot more immune to the daily mundane happenings (it doesn't matter if his previous life was hell when compared to this... you see, that is basic human nature).
But then, the YSC people of the YSC Club got into the group of their dreams. As is obvious, every dream realised calls for a celebration!!!
Then they started celebrating....
Then he realised... Even after all the butt f&%$&^g, this place was worth staying a while in...
The dude lies back...
and relaxes!!! :)

College life
Anyways, the main objective of this post is basically to show people and junta and whatever where I study...
And after having a look at da place it will be difficult to imagine how is it possible to study in a place like this!! :)
Ad Block
Now I know.. Hard to believe that we get all these delightful hues in our college!!!
But hahahaha, in your face everyone who studies in another college..
Ad block with loads of light
This is the same place but with loads of light around. You dont want to end up here in the morning or anything coz this is the place where the PGPchair sits and ahem ahem, deals with all the misgivings of da day!!! :)
And Finally the thinking spot
This is the place where people are supposed to sit and think... But then, I think the rains take away the one chance we all have at some serious thinking!!!
Anyways, that's it for now...
3 photos is too few but then, IIM K and my life is not merely about the bloody location of the place!!! Will be coming down to more serious topics (eg booze n babes :P ) later!!
Ciao guys/gals!!!

New life?? Or is it..
So does my preparation!!
It ended up on a day a few months back and since then, I have finished one month in the college of my dreams, an IIM (K to be precise, but then dreams are hardly ever precise, rite??).
So now what?
Am I expected to be all grim and serious? Are my goals in life supposed to be all that much clearer? Or am I supposed to be a bigger pain in the ass right now?
Well, I find the answers to all these questions to be more on the negative side. MBA isn't all that different from an engineering, in fact, it is possi ble that it is more fun for a lesser period of time.
People who want to study can study, people who want to chill out are always allowed to do so.
So from now on, its back to blogging on the most nonsensical topics I can imagine... Life at IIM K will not be reported here. For that Sanat is making a new blog, lets see what happens in that!
But till then,
keep coming back here!

X Men The End
I started reading X-men when I was fresh out of class 12th. Needless to say, the childish concept of people having super human powers had always been the fantasy of at least a dozen kids I knew in that distant childhood of mine.
But in this particular series, there was a slight twist. The powers which these people got were due to a mutated DNA. A so called X-gene which was present in it and hence made them Homo superior to us homo sapiens. As a result of this, they were looked down upon, cursed, spitted and hell, been almost killed several times by the humans they had sworn to protect.
Through a decade and a half, they continue fighting the forces which threatened humanity (eg: Magneto, sinistero, karakoa, juggernaut and black cassidy, mystique, and so many more) while also fighting the human resistance to the domination of the mutants over earth.
Finally, when it seemed all was going well, Kitty Pryde aka Shadowcat being actually considered as the mext mayor of her city (name not disclosed in the series), comes the one last final twist in the tale.
Cassandara Nova- The one and only villain to have powers to even make Prof Charles Xavier cringe with fear (after all, she is his evil twin sis), returns and wreaks havoc.
As a decade has passed from the period we are reading about (or seeing in the movies, to the non comic buff), the people have grown. Cyclops and Emma Frost have married and have a coupla kids, so have Rogue and gambit, so have Beast and Cecilia etc the list goes on and on.
This series highlights, yet again, the concept of unity and fearlessness in a way which had never been shown before. The entire gamut of emotions going thru every persons mind as his/her near and dear ones bloody sacrifice themselves in order to save the shi'ar planet and their own is literally depicted through graphics.
For me to say that the Graphics were awesome and the picture detail was good would be blasphemous, as it was just the story line which will keep you bound throughout the 18 comic book series.
It is not a happy ending, it is not the perfect ending, it is tragic, but in the end.... we get a glimpse of what the world means to the X-Men.

Mail to The HRD minister, Arjun Singh cced to the editors of the newspapers
Please mak a note of sending a copy of the same (or with modifications) as soon as is humanely possible!
Subject: Plight of students due to the delay in IIM results (for 2007 -2009 batch)
Dear Mr. Arjun Singh
With regards to your statement “None of the students will suffer”, we would like to draw your notice to a number of difficulties that are being faced by the currently shortlisted candidates for the IIM academic year 2007-09 (approximately 3000). The same are being listed below for your perusal.
Scrapping of the preparatory courses that are conducted prior to commencement of the academic calendar for the IIMs for 2007-09. This will hugely inconvenience a large number of students who will be joining the IIM programs and severely affect their performance in the later stages of their academic life in the IIMs.
Many of the IIM aspirants are working people, and in case of a successful admit from the IIMs, they will need to provide a notice period to their companies. This period is usually two months and failure to inform the company of the same will lead to at least a loss of income, and at most an inability to receive an experience letter from the company. This will adversely affect their career prospects.
Inordinate delay in the results will cause many students to opt for courses offered by other B-schools. This will both affect the quality of students joining the IIMs, as well as result in many deserving candidates losing an opportunity in moving up the waitlist and getting a seat.
The IIM academic calendar will be affected as a result of the delay in announcing the results, and this will ripple over to a delay in the summer internship calendar, as well as the final completion of the academic process. This will adversely affect the careers of the MBA students.
On receipt of a successful admit from an IIM, a candidate has to make significant changes in his/her life, including relocation to the city hosting the IIM and managing the live(s) of his/her dependent(s) and it is adversely affected due to the delay. This problem becomes much more pronounced in the case of married.
We request you to kindly go through the afore mentioned problems, faced by candidates for the IIM academic year 2007-09, due to the delay in the announcement of the results for the same. We further request you to please go through our problems while discussing the matter with the supreme court and act on it as soon as possible.
Thanking you.
Yours faithfully,
(your name)

F.R.I.E.N.D.S ---- Act 1 Scene 1
Well, recently... I went to my college, and actually managed to feel nostalgic!!! :o
I don't know, was it really that long back?? that I went to college..
That I attended classes (and a lot of them), Went to the gate shop, that I spent time chatting with people, that I had to move 2 rooms and be in the room of another friend, that I was so much into the things that I did not have time to breathe???
Well, I guess 12 months is a very short time to some. But for people like me, it is more like a lifetime.. Because, that was the time people like me actually got out and did something with their lives. :D
I have tried to live back some of those things over here... Writing stuff about some of my friends, Something which I know will go unread by those friends.. but then, this is a very personal space.. isn't it ;-)
Department Dudes
Popat
Here is a gem of a dude. MY very very best friend of Chemical Dept.. Mr Srikant Anand Panchbhai aka popat!
Now as you can see... He is full of Muscles.. Similar to Venkatapathy Raju of India (age old dude)... What do I miss about him... His constant lamentations about the department are the first things which come to my mind.
See, the teachers which we had.. they were kinda inclined towards the fairer sex... and since neither of us were *ahem ahem* fair :D , and constituted the bottom quarter of the dept, well lets just say we had common interests!!!
About him.. the perfect friend any person (especially one as talkative as me) might have, because the forte of popat is.. that he listens.. and cares!!! Man.. Who will believe that this is a dude who doesn't mind spilling virtual blood at every opportunity!!! He takes care in such a good way.. that I can't fuckin say anything negative abt this dude!!!
Rock on Popat!!!
Swamiji
As I was saying, the initial few days in the department, and the following days in the department, and the following days in the hostels, I was able to cope only with the aid of these two dudes, popat and Swamiji aka Vijay Singh Bisht.
Well let me make it very clear, this guy is not at all interested in the mundane things of life, feelings emotions, hard work, ambition, etc etc ;-) (albeit he doesn;t mind the money). The one thing he is interested in is, making sure people around him do not downplay him. Which I was kinda careful about.
Hailing from the state of Uttaranchal, the pahari l**d has given us umpteen fundas ranging from "this" to "that" (I can't really put it in public view what all this dude has said abt so many things). A supremely interesting character, he generally claims the people around him to be chaat .
He can help you if he wants to, but then he generally never did want to help people (as he was too busy getting himself out of so many troubles).
The number of classes he has made bearable for me are kinda unprecedented!!! SO I'll just leave it at this... He is an asshole to the core... but he is one of the best friends I had in the dept!!! :P

Ruminations of an idle mind
Apparently (and I am speaking through personal experience), the moment people are idle, they start talking.
You won't believe it how much can they talk. Every living second of their idle time is spent in talking (for the betterment of society or with the intention of wiping out humanity? I cannot comment on that :mg: ).
So this post of mine is dedicated to my ruminations on how much can people speak. :D
According to me, people can speak in the following ways
This is probably the most common type of "talking". Idle people sitting around in a circle talking about everything under the moon, sun and the sky with apparently no more than passing interest in each of the topics discussed.
How many times have we seen dudes/dudettes sitting around in their rooms in their final eyar discussing about what has happened in the past 3 years. I mean, come on... we have lived those years already, why do we talk about it. Simply, because we have nothing better to do.
A classical example of the same would be oldies (ala people in the MDH ads) sitting near the entry of your mohalla chewing tobacco/paan or something and discussing.. hehehehe Ultimate scene... and the cause is very apparent! They have nothing better to do...
So what do people do now?? They sit infront of the latest series of idiot boxes/slave driving equipment/dating medium/ computers :D and chat their hearts out!
I feel its basically the exasperation of everyone around oneself which drives people to move on to this medium. I mean look at it this way, what option does a person opening up a page have besides reading through everything which has been written over there? After all, even he is as idle as the next person!!
So what the end result is, that people can spend entire years infront of their monitors doing nothing but chatting through their fingers and giving vent to all the idle energy pent up inside of them!!! :D
Well, a not so novel way of what we term as "bakar"... The read-a-lot syndrome.. :D
Let me clarify myself. Imagine a dude, who has no-one around him who can talk to him easily. No-one seems to share the same interests as that dude. But then, even such a (lets term him a "sahdev" right now, for the want of a better word) sahdev wants to talk, to chatter but is put down by the (his view point) mediocre society he lives in. At this point of time he is bitten by the Read-a-lot bug. In this syndrome, he generally picks up an author (the one closest to his heart) and finishes him (as in, not kills him d-uh).
This sort of stimulates an imaginative spirit in the dude, something which he did not even imagine existed! Thus making up of bakar. Albeit this is probably the least noisy forms of talkativeness, but to the person involved, he is actually indulging himself in the act in the only way he can!! :D
Now this can come in Hard copies (eg. paperback novels which you all read), mails or maybe even these kind of blogs (yup I do confess, I do have a lot of free time at hand).
I think I have taken enough time to prepare this thing and all of the people reading this know me well enough that what I have spoken, I actually practice!!!
All of this was just to prove one thing and one thing alone...
MAN GIMME SOMETHING TO DO... I AM SITTING JOBLESS OVER HERE...

The OFFICIAL labyrinth
That whatever you do, you cannot get out of it with the fruit of your efforts?
Kind of what Harry Potter would have felt in the Triwizard tournament?
It is possible that some time down the line, you do have such a situation in your life. And as they say, practice can make you prepared for any kind of eventuality. So (I hope you catch my drift)
Practice getting lost in a labyrinth. Practice going from one place to the other without any sense of being. Practice walking around with your head down moving from one clue to the other with no hope of actually solving the puzzle. Practice by.... going to any government office to get a signature which attests the marks which you obtained a whole eon ago.
Aah. The bliss! The pleasure! The sheer relaxation! Let me recount a story which will further prove the point that being lost in a labyrinth can be very very very very enjoyable.
To start off, lets just imagine a certain honest court place where a lot of honorable lawyers are having a ball. When people like us approach them, the smile on their face is so good, so pleasing, kind of like... "Aah I thanketh lord for the food on my table". It gives you a sense of satisfaction which nothing else can probably give you ever. When they tell you the charge of their services in getting you the required signature, it is so less, that it just breaks your heart and leave them to their philanthropic acts.
Because you realise that just next door is this huge huge building which is supposedly swarming with the all elusive GAZZATED officers. Then when a person asks you to go to the 16th floor (yup, seriously) to get one measly signature... well, you just feel glad you were born in the first place.
Moving on, the 16th floor? or was it 18th? or maybe 14th? naah.. it was none of them. Because of a scandal which broke out a few months ago, all the officers have been shocked into nobility. So they refuse to sign and give you a hint of what a ping pong ball feels when she goes around from this end of the table to the other end with apparently no possibly motive.
Hell, that sweet lawyer's measly fees actually appears endearing all of a sudden... But then you realise, that the helpful man won't be able to get you the "gazzated" officer's signature. Here comes the twist, you have to go to a hospital to get the signature (did no-one see Munnabhai MBBS while making these kinda rules???).
But moving forward, in the hospital.... The dudes and dudettes are roaming around with apparently nothing to do but guide us poor misguided souls towards the gazzated officers. And when we meet them, their fees is even more humble than the dear old lawyers.
It is at this point, at around 2:30 pm in the after noon, you realise the true essence of life... And why is the answer to life itself and everything else is always 42!!!
Please, go thru this experience at least once in your lifetime... It is an enriching experience.
GOD SPEED!

Life at present
But, as is pretty obvious, that is soooo not true... In fact I only get high every other weekend and that too in a single can of beer... Stay as far away from marijuana as possible...
aah but me diverts.. Back to what I want to say..
So as I was saying, I have been staying in a state of perpetual cheerfulness for so long that I can't remember when was the last time I actually gave vent to all the emotions which have been welling up inside of me (naaah, not tears man :D ).
Ok, so its like this... I have grown tired of working in the company (even though I do little but surf the net). I have grown tired of the daily routine of monotonous life!! I hate it when nothing of worth is happening around me. The only notable thing in my life being, when I have my next IIM Call.. n I don't mean that in a bad way..
But things were so, so different back in college... I was the KAPOOR, the CHAAT, the POPLI.. around whom the whole chemical dept stayed (abusing me if u'd like to know but still..). The point I am trying to make is, that until last year, I was surrounded by activity and responsibility. Now, I am just another insignificant dude who has enough brains to get into a job and is not unemployed!!! :mg:
So, this whole "unimportance of the Anarchy" (lets say) is really starting to bother me... I have started growing irritable... impatient... and all the things which I do not want to be... but I can't help it... My Job responsibilities (if I have any)
Well, an honest answer would have been..
"Sir, I do pretty much nothing except maybe wasting my time online writing in PG.com or something like orkutting or chatting"
but then, I am not an absolute Raja Harishchandra now, am I :mg:
So here goes
"I work in IBM Applications on Demand in the capacity of a Solutions Architect of the ERP software named Oracle Applications which includes Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle Financials. (This should impress them a bit) I work in the back end of the sales procedure of my company. This means that whenever the sales people go and initiate talks with a new client, they get a questionnaire filled about the details of the customers (the details are confidential, incidentally :mg: ) which they send to us. Based on the details, we design the hardware architecture for them. After which my team prepares an indicative pricing of the deal which encompasses the clients' needs. These go for further negotiation and after getting the deal, we revise the h/w architecture.... And make a concrete deal..."
Now people reading this. I have got this confirmed that this is the best way to go about my aprticular job responsibilities. The steps I am trying to follow are
1) Nature of work of my industry
2)Nature of my work
3)Where does my work fit in the grander scheme so to speak
and done..
And after this I am prepared to come up with facts and fiction to support my statements. And maybe end with a witty statement like " So you see sir, my work has nothing to do with the internet at all"
and be done with it..
hehehehe
so guys reading this... feedback.. what am I doing correct, wrong etc etc :mg:

Academic Performance... hehehehe
This is the single most horrific thought in my mind. What impact does my poor academic record have on my career? I was a woeful student beyond all hope, and then, this stupid exam (aka CAT) came along and revived my hope in myself. Now at this crucial juncture of my career, my acads maybe one of the things holding me back.. Lemme have a decent attempt at this... And lets see how things shape up
I feel that my academic record, a CGPA of 7.28, does not really reflect my capability (now I dunno what the hell this line is supposed to mean, this helped me well in the interviews in college). Even though my past record, about 88% in 10th and 12th, is decent enough (who's isn't ;) ) , I feel that the load of co-curricular and extra curricular activities (now I will probably dish out some of the pathetic certis which I have) affected my academic record. But given the circumstances, and by weighing out the pros and cons of such activities in my personality development, I feel that I would do the same activities had I another chance to undergo my engg. (Now I know this is a real gamble.. I might be thrown out for being arrogant, stubborn, unwilling to change and all, but seriously, what have I got to lose... I feel its worth a shot.. to come out all stud like.... hehehe. and I'll try to make this answer as short and sweet as possible... more room for debate etc etc)
and that's it for today... enough of writing!!! do lemme know what you think about this...

My life rocks.... or does it???
I have been delaying this for a long while... Practicing what I preach.. Which is deliberation...
I am trying to come up with an answer to the question which I have been asked very recently by tati bhai.
Now I know I am not supposed to share it and everything, but what the hell... I am going ahead with it anyways!!!
All of this which I have written is open to criticism (I hope people read it and all) and I want to improve this answer to the point where it is nearly flawless...
Here goes...
Tell me something about yourself?
I am Abhishek Kapoor, B tech chemical engineer from NIT Trichy and currently employed in IBM at a post of Solutions Architect.
Coming from a culturally sound state pf Uttar Pradesh during my formative years, I have a deep rooted faith in the traditions and cultures of
I have always been interested in “being involved” in everything that is going on around me, be it at school level or college level. Be it organizing events, anchoring shows, teaching students, participating in stage events or editing the college year book, I made it a point that I was one of the main contributors in each and every activity which happened around me.
Other than this, I have always been decent in sports participating in many table tennis competitions and winning some of them.
For me, it is imperative that I give everything I have put my hand in my best shot and then leave the rest up to God for it is not always that the results are in your hand.
Another thing I am really interested in is meeting people. I believe that each and every one of us is inherently good and it is the duty of each and every person to recognize it.
My hobbies would include playing table Tennis and Cricket, reading fiction and non fiction novels, listening to music and playing computer games. I have represented my school and college in Table Tennis and I have been one of the co-organisers of a cricket tournament in my college. I have also played at a district level competition in Counter Strike, a computer game.

Deliberation???
You remember the time we all passed out of skool, "Aah, I wanna become an engineer and rock the world like anything" same was the case with me in college.
But suddenly, the future doesn't look all that bright for me. Being lost in a sea of faces was never my wish when I took up the noble profession.
So, I thought again, this time MBA as the possible solution.
But herein lies the catch, if this is another mistake, where do I go? I'll be too old and too weather beaten at the point I realise that "ok now, This is not the Career I want"..
So what do I do?
The "only possible recourse" (am using that a lot now a days) would be that I try to find an answer to the million dollar question,
"Why do I want to do an MBA?"
now simple as this may seem and it may also appear that "this is a possible question for my interview, so I better prepare it", there is a deep underlying principle behind it.
Only when you realise the reason behind your wanting anything, would you want it more and strive hard enough to get it! The point I am trying to make here is, I (for one) have to be clear in my head abt the intentions with which I am trying to do anything and everything in life. I think it should help me in sorting out the mess which my life is slowly becoming!
chalo, enough for now!!! will write some more later....
