X Men The End

All that begins must come to an end, or so I have just realized.

I started reading X-men when I was fresh out of class 12th. Needless to say, the childish concept of people having super human powers had always been the fantasy of at least a dozen kids I knew in that distant childhood of mine.

But in this particular series, there was a slight twist. The powers which these people got were due to a mutated DNA. A so called X-gene which was present in it and hence made them Homo superior to us homo sapiens. As a result of this, they were looked down upon, cursed, spitted and hell, been almost killed several times by the humans they had sworn to protect.

Through a decade and a half, they continue fighting the forces which threatened humanity (eg: Magneto, sinistero, karakoa, juggernaut and black cassidy, mystique, and so many more) while also fighting the human resistance to the domination of the mutants over earth.

Finally, when it seemed all was going well, Kitty Pryde aka Shadowcat being actually considered as the mext mayor of her city (name not disclosed in the series), comes the one last final twist in the tale.

Cassandara Nova- The one and only villain to have powers to even make Prof Charles Xavier cringe with fear (after all, she is his evil twin sis), returns and wreaks havoc.

As a decade has passed from the period we are reading about (or seeing in the movies, to the non comic buff), the people have grown. Cyclops and Emma Frost have married and have a coupla kids, so have Rogue and gambit, so have Beast and Cecilia etc the list goes on and on.

This series highlights, yet again, the concept of unity and fearlessness in a way which had never been shown before. The entire gamut of emotions going thru every persons mind as his/her near and dear ones bloody sacrifice themselves in order to save the shi'ar planet and their own is literally depicted through graphics.

For me to say that the Graphics were awesome and the picture detail was good would be blasphemous, as it was just the story line which will keep you bound throughout the 18 comic book series.

It is not a happy ending, it is not the perfect ending, it is tragic, but in the end.... we get a glimpse of what the world means to the X-Men.

Thank you for doing justice in giving more reach to X-Men..a brilliant series which sadly has never managed to become as iconic as the other Marvel/DC Comic characters like super/bat/spider man etc...
Honestly...I get confused with whats meant to be the X-Men Storyline..so many conflicting versions (all of which are genuine) around..esp so many of wolverine's...
But who wouldn't wanna be a "normal" guy with uncanny superpowers (unlike the "superheroes" who are always portrayed like gods)...
My favourites..?? Magneto, Wolverine & Apocalypse(Like all those immortal, God like characters..Just like Darkseid in Superman)

Cheers & a thumsup from a fellow X-Men Fanatic..!! :P
